What is REACH?
REACH stands for the ‘Research in Emergency care, Avon Collaborative Hub’. The Hub is made up of a group of researchers and healthcare professionals and led by directors from the two universities in Bristol (the University of the West of England and the University of Bristol). We also work closely with local NHS hospitals and the ambulance service.
Working together as a ‘hub’ has many benefits, including:
- being aware of the most important questions our local healthcare system want answers to
- having lots of experts on our team, many of whom also work in the NHS
- having the resources to help with long-term planning.
What we do
We started working together in 2020 with the aim of improving urgent and emergency care in the South West. Since then, our members have carried out important research to help improve patient care and benefit the NHS.
We also support junior clinicians and researchers who are new to emergency care research. We offer expertise and support in our hub, to help them become experts.
Want to take part in our research?
Our research is made better by involving patients, carers and other members of the public with experience of using urgent and emergency care. For example, you might have had to call for an ambulance or been to an Accident and Emergency (A&E) Department.
